Thanks for the nice words Emmanuel!
I hear what you're saying. And often productivity is boiled down to being this inhuman, robotic, myopic thing companies in a capitalist system greedily do to maximize profits while ignorant consumers irresponsibly buy "things" to attempt to become happy while destroying the world.
But, I think that is a caricature of what's happening that may represent parts of what happening, but not all of it.
There is a very human way of looking at productivity. It's our lived story throughout all of human history. Our ancestors have always tried to make a better world for their children, to figure out better ways of doing things. It's one of the things that is uniquely human—that we desire to do this and have the ability to.
Productivity can also be applied to things outside of work. I for one would love more productive ways to resolve conflicts, build connection to ones I love, cope with anxiety, engage with community I live in, etc.
Doing things better is also what makes things in the environment more sustainable. So, in a way it's an imperative.
