I did know that big five trait of openness to experience is a predictor of scientific achievement (see https://scottbarrykaufman.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Kaufman-et-al.-2015.pdf).

However, I did not know that people who have high openness to experience typically have or must have higher IQ. If this were the case, it would be both surprising and unsurprising, It would be surprising, because I don’t think you need intelligence to be open to new ideas. On the other hand, it wouldn’t be surprising that people who have a higher IQ love learning more and therefore are more open to new experiences. Do you have any research backing this up?
