I agree that there is more nuance here than I could fit into the already 3,000-word article.
- I agree that underlying principles/methods change much less frequently than specific hacks and tools. Unfortunately, many people only learn topics at a surface level. Among my friends who are professors, I hear that this problem is getting significantly worse among students.
- Regarding the periodic table example, in my mind, there are two ways that information becomes outdated in my mind: (1) It is proven false. (2) A body of facts is added to it. So, I would put the periodic table under #2.
What are your thoughts?
