James - One big thing is that there is a difference between the theory of scientific management and the application of it to different areas.

Sometimes it is applied well and sometimes it isn't. Sometimes it is applied rigidly and sometimes it is applied fluidly given the context and culture.

There are definitely ways for people to apply it in a way that is dehumanizing and that provides efficiency at the cost of productivity, but that doesn't mean this is what Scientific Management is.
