Great questions and points Yulia. Two thoughts:
- There are some professions, positions, and company cultures that value polymaths more than others. Entrepreneurship is definitely one of those. Also, naturally, as one rises in a corporate structure and manages large, diverse teams, more polymath skills are needed. I would put many types of writing in that category too. I wish I could give you a more thorough answer on how to find opportunities that would fit you, but I think polymaths generally just have to put more time in the search process.
- Another challenge to being polymaths is connecting all of the dots into a cohesive picture for yourself and then gaining the ability to communicate that value to others. This is another process of searching and testing that can take a long time. It is only in the past 4years that I really feel like I’ve found a way of packaging my unique background in a way that creates value for others, that I intrinsically love, and that makes money.
The journey of being a polymath definitely has a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs, and is also very fruitful.
