Agreed! The school system is designed to teach us 12 years of skills that school systems decided are important—consensus skills.

There are fundamental reading, writing, and math skills everyone should learn, but beyond that there are so so so many skills students can learn and only a very small percentage are taught in schools.

One of my kids recently started unschooling, so I've been thinking about this a lot.
